Taxi driver busted with suspected cannabis concealed in fertilizer sacks

On June 2, 2025, the Ghana Police Service arrested a taxi driver, identified as Ernest Mohammed Adjiri, for allegedly transporting suspected cannabis concealed in fertilizer sacks.

The arrest occurred when officers from the National Highway Patrol Unit intercepted a Hyundai i10 taxi with registration number GW 9832-22.

Upon inspection, they discovered 26 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp hidden within three fertilizer sacks in the vehicle’s boot.

Mr. Adjiri is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges related to the unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
