TB Joshua’s Death Affected Me More Than My Parents’ – Ayitey Powers

Legendary Ghanaian boxer, Ayitey Powers, born Michael Ayitey Okine has recently shared that the death of the late Nigerian prophet, TB Joshua affected him more deeply than the loss of his own parents.

In an interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3’s Showbiz 360 on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Ayitey Powers talked about his strong connection with the late prophet and how he often turned to him for advice.

He recalled that before TB Joshua’s unexpected death, the prophet had invited him to visit his church. Unfortunately, the former boxer admitted that he couldn’t make the visit before hearing about TB Joshua’s passing through the news.

Reflecting on this loss, he expressed his surprise, saying, “Sometimes when I think about his death, I realize that God works in mysterious ways. How could Prophet TB Joshua die at that age? He called me to visit his church, but I delayed, and he passed away. He mentioned he wouldn’t celebrate his birthday, and we didn’t know he was going to die.

“If I had known, we discussed many things together. So, TB Joshua’s death hurts me more than the death of my mother and father.”

TB Joshua, born Temitope Balogun Joshua, was a prominent Nigerian pastor, televangelist, and philanthropist. He founded the Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), a large Christian ministry in Lagos, Nigeria, known for its televised healing services and charitable work.

Joshua was a widely recognized spiritual leader, attracting millions of followers worldwide, both in person and through his Emmanuel TV network.

TB Joshua passed away on June 5, 2021, at the age of 57, just days before his 58th birthday. His sudden death shocked many, as it came after a sermon at his church. The cause of his death was not officially disclosed, leading to widespread speculation and grief among his followers.

TB Joshua’s passing marked the end of an era for many who saw him as a spiritual guide and mentor.

Powers’ reflections reveal the close bond he had with the late prophet and the lingering regret he feels over an unfulfilled promise.
