Tensions in Binduri after DCE nominee rejected, newly elected PM assaulted

Thursday, April 24, 2025, was a tense day in Binduri, Upper East Region, as political tensions flared following the rejection of the President’s nominee for District Chief Executive (DCE).

The drama took a darker turn shortly after the vote when Samuel Azure, the newly elected Presiding Member and Assemblyman for the Kaadi Electoral Area, was reportedly assaulted.

This happened just after the assembly voted to reject the DCE nominee, leaving the community in shock.

Eyewitnesses described the assault as occurring in the immediate aftermath of the vote, though the exact reasons behind the attack remain unclear.

It has sparked growing concern about the rising political tensions in the district.

As of now, the identities of those responsible for the assault remain unknown, and local authorities have not yet released any formal statements.

With the DCE nominee rejected and emotions running high, the Binduri District Assembly now faces an uncertain future.
