President John Mahama has warned individuals hiding behind the cover of darkness to perpetuate indiscriminate acts under the guise of an “order from above.”
He emphasized that the law must be respected in all circumstances and urged that no acts of intimidation should be allowed to thrive.
Speaking at the launch of the SheaPark Resource Hub in Wa, Upper West Region, on January 31, 2026, President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting all individuals.
The SheaPark Resource Hub is a flagship intervention aimed at revitalizing the region’s economy through industrialization and value addition within the shea sector, positioning Upper West as a key player in Ghana’s agro-industrial transformation agenda.
Mr. Mahama was responding to a supposed order to relocate a market in the Wa township and did not mince words.
“I heard some people say, ‘Oh, it’s directed from above,’ and they like using this phrase,‘ from above, from above, from above.’ I don’t know who is up there. Somebody goes and wants to take somebody’s land, and they say it’s directed from above. There’s no ‘above’ anywhere,” he stressed.
