The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah, has cut sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Denkyira Ntomtom Methodist Primary School in the Central Region.
The project, which will include kindergarten and primary classrooms as well as office facilities, is expected to be completed within six months.
It aims to improve access to quality education and provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils.
Speaking at the ceremony, the MP reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in the municipality.
She also encouraged parents to support their children’s education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), noting her long-term vision to see more engineers, doctors, and pharmacists emerge from the constituency.
Lawyer Ankomah further pledged her personal support to students pursuing STEM-related programmes.
Meanwhile, the Odikro of Denkyira Ntomtom, Nana Brefo Kessi II, expressed gratitude to the MP for initiating her first development project in the community.
He described the intervention as timely, noting that the facility would give local children better opportunities to access quality education and secure a brighter future.
He also called on community members to support the project to ensure its successful completion.
