Vice President inaugurates key projects at KNUST, highlights support for innovation and development

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has inaugurated three major projects at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening higher education and promoting innovation-driven development.

The projects, the KNUST Souvenir Shop, a Multipurpose Laboratory, and the KNUST Bottling Company, were commissioned in Kumasi in the presence of the Chancellor, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rita Dickson.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said the new facilities reflect what institutions can achieve when provided with the right support and encouragement to innovate.

“These projects are a testament to what becomes possible when our universities are encouraged to innovate and thrive. Government remains committed to equipping institutions like KNUST with the tools and infrastructure they need to drive national development,” she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang underscored the vital role of tertiary institutions in advancing research, entrepreneurship and economic transformation.

She urged KNUST to continue developing creative solutions that can contribute to Ghana’s broader development agenda.

The commissioning formed part of the Vice President’s engagements in Kumasi, highlighting the administration’s focus on expanding educational infrastructure and promoting projects that enhance student learning, research and institutional growth.
