We’ll act professionally during elections – GAF assures Chief Imam

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has pledged that its men and women will work professionally to ensure a peaceful atmosphere is maintained during the upcoming December elections.

This, the GAF, believes will strengthen the stability the country has been enjoying  for some time now.

The Chief of Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, who gave this assurance, also indicated that the GAF will achieve that with support from other security agencies to further ensure that Ghana’s borders are protected from any external threats.

Lieutenant General Oppong-Peprah made this known while speaking at a meeting with the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

“We want to assure our father and everyone that together, we will continue to maintain the peace and security of this country and we will continue to perform our duties as the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure that this country’s safety, stability, and peace are all well maintained and we will need his prayers in this direction,” he explained.

He continued, “As we prepare for this year’s elections, we want to assure everyone in Ghana that we will play our role professionally to ensure that peace and security are maintained.”
Ghana goes to polls on December 7, 2024, where over 16 million Ghanaians are expected to cast their ballot to elect a president and 275 parliamentarians.
