The John Mahama for Change campaign has warned it will resist any attempt by Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate the upcoming December 7 elections.
It says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is fully aware of the underhand tactics being planned by the ruling NPP in collaboration with some elements within the security system and the Electoral Commission to temper with the election results.
The NDC says it has credible information about the illicit printing of fake ballot papers by the NPP and Bawumia campaign, which is intended to undermine the electoral process.
A statement signed by the Mahama Campaign Spokesperson, Joyce Bawah Mogtari on Monday, November 25, 2024 said the NDC has followed the process and is aware of the attempts to intimate voters in its strong and will fiercely resist it
“We are aware of the attempts by the ruling party to manipulate the elections by intimidating voters and polling agents in their strongholds so that they can push in already-thumb-printed ballots” she said
Adding that “We want to be clear: the NDC will not countenance any attempts to undermine the will of the people of Ghana and will not stand by idly or allow any attempts to disrupt our nascent democracy. We are prepared and will forcefully resist any attempts at electoral manipulation as planned by the NPP and Bawumia campaign” she warned
The statement also called on the Electoral Commission, President Akufo Addo and Dr Bawumia to ensure the peace of the nation is not traded for any parochial interest.
“We repeat our call on the Electoral Commission, President Akufo Addo and Mahamudu Bawumia to act with integrity and ensure a free and fair election process without intimidation and vote tempering”
It has since called on all well meaning Ghanaians in an all hands on deck approach to ensure every vote counts as it has assured to do all within its power to protect every vote cast on December 7.
“We remind Ghanaians that the power is in their hands . Your voice matters, and together, we will ensure that each and every vote counts” it emphasized.
