National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson ASIEDU NKETIA is questioning the basis for the printing of ballot papers when the Electoral Commission (EC) to is yet to provide political parties with copies of the certified voters register
He says while the NDC is closely monitoring with eagle eyes, it has officially written to the EC to prove the party with the CODE books to track the data EC wants to rely on for the printing.
The NDC Chairman, who was addressing the press in Ho, the Volta regional capital during a campaign tour, called on Ghanaians, stakeholders and peace loving citizens to appreciate NDC’s concerns, which is key to a peaceful and credible elections.
*”I want to assure EC that no matter what they do, NPP will never win this election. They better get to work and provide us the necessary documents needed”*.he emphasized
He added “The opportunity we gave EC to produce the Provisional finalized Voter’s Register they said they worked on has been abused and they failed to deliver on their promise”
Mr ASIEDU NKETIA further noted that the basis for printing ballot papers is when political
Parties have been served with the Provisional certified Voter’s Register.
“We don’t use draft register to print ballot papers”. We have written to EC boss to provide us the” CODE BOOKS” which contain polling stations and their codes but they failed to do that”*. They are now giving excuses. We shall wait for them” he asserted
“You can never cause any mess in this country and run away, we shall bring you back to suffer the consequences of your actions” – Johnson Asiedu Nketiah warned, vowing the next NDC government will go after those who have messed up state resources.
He told the press as it stands, the NDC does not have any idea about the total number of voters, polling stations codes etc.
Also the correction for all wrongfully transfered voters.
He therefore questioned the basis is their actions.
“This has been our argument to get to the roots of what caused the problems in the register which EC boss accepted herself that there were some errors” he argued
“We can just not accept the register with an assurance that they have done the necessary corrections, an external eye must ascertain that before printing of ballot papers”
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called on Ghanaians to understand the NDC’s position on the voters register and the basis questioning EC boss, Jean Mensa’s actions.
She said the need for all to speak out is now before she destroys the democracy Ghanians have collectively nurtured since 1993.
