Sports and Recreation Minister, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has extended warm congratulations to President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku following his appointment as the Second Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In a statement issued on Monday, Hon. Adams described Okraku’s appointment as a proud moment for Ghana, recognizing it as a testament to his dedication, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth of football both in Ghana and across the African continent.

He further commended President Simeon-Okraku for his transformative initiatives, including the “Catch Them Young” refereeing project, the establishment of zonal football academies, and his strong advocacy for grassroots talent development. These efforts were described as critical foundations for the future of Ghanaian football.

Hon. Adams further emphasised that the GFA President’s new role at CAF presents a renewed opportunity to drive the development of the domestic game.

He expressed hope that under his continued leadership, Ghana would see further progress in the Premier League, empowering women’s football, and nurturing young talent across the nation.

The Ministry pledged its full support to President Okraku as he works with key stakeholders to uplift African football and restore Ghana’s place of prominence within the global football community.

President Kurt E.S Okraku extends heartfelt gratitude to H.E John Dramani Mahama and Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, for their remarkable support during the recent CAF African Schools Football Championship at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Notably, President Mahama braved the rain to present medals and trophies to deserving players, alongside CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Also, Kurt Okraku shared a post expressing his gratitude, thanking President John Mahama, Sports Minister Kofi Adams, CAF leadership, and others following his appointment as CAF 2nd Vice President.

KGL Group has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a whopping GHs20 million over two years for the Black Stars.

The Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, emphasized that this renewed sponsorship agreement is a response to the national call to action, echoing President John Dramani Mahama’s rallying cry to “bring back the love” for the Black Stars.

Following GoldStars’ defeat to Vision FC on Sunday in the GPL, head coach of the side, Frimpong Maanso, says his team will count on their home form to clinch the Ghana Premier League and that his side have the resources to go to Africa should they win the league.

Team Ghana departed to Egypt for the 16th Africa Junior Swimming Champs, set to take place at the Cairo International Stadium from April 30 to May 3, 2025.

Oduma Agyei, Team Ghana’s Captain, Michael Arthur Crabbeman, Johnson Gyarko & others will represent GH.

President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Mrs Delphina Quaye stated that, the 2025 edition of the Champs is expected to feature 100 swimmers from Africa.

“We have to represent, we have to keep the kids on their feet, they cannot just be swimming only in Ghana, they have to swim against their counterparts in other countries.”

Coach of the Ghana Swimming team, Kenneth Nartey Ankrah also started that, the expectations are very high, so far, they have assembled the best in the country to represent Ghana.
