Roads Ministry Debunks Viral Video of Road Allegedly Removed by Hand

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has dismissed claims linking a viral social media video, which shows a road allegedly being removed by hand, to road construction projects in Ghana, clarifying that the footage was recorded in Liberia.

In a statement signed by Kojo Danquah, Spokesperson to the Minister for Roads and Highways, the Ministry said its checks had established that the road featured in the video was located in Liberia. It described attempts to associate the footage with projects under its supervision in Ghana as misleading.

The Ministry expressed concern that the circulation of the video could create a false impression about the quality of roads constructed in the country and undermine public confidence in ongoing infrastructure projects.

It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that road projects across the country meet the required standards, citing the Minister’s ongoing inspection tours of road projects nationwide as part of efforts to monitor construction works.

The Ministry also urged the public, media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it in order to prevent the spread of misinformation.

It called on Ghanaians to disregard the claims linking the video to Ghana and to rely on verified information from credible sources.
