George Opare Addo, Ghana’s Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment and National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s ability to fix the mess and reset Ghana.
His remarks align with the NDC’s broader vision to address the country’s pressing economic and social challenges.
President Mahama has articulated a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate Ghana’s economy and governance structures.
In his post-election address, he emphasized the necessity of implementing stringent reforms to restore the nation’s status as the “Black Star of Africa.
These reforms are aimed at tackling issues such as high public debt, inflation, and mismanagement in key sectors like energy and agriculture.
Mahama’s strategy includes:
- Economic Revival: Focusing on sustainable development through industrialization, enhanced agriculture, and efficient resource utilization.
- Job Creation: Prioritizing the creation of decent, well-paying, and sustainable jobs, especially for the youth, by fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Social Justice and Equality: Strengthening social interventions and educational reforms to ensure equal opportunities for all citizens.
- National Unity: Advocating for an end to polarization and partisan politics to foster national cohesion.
As Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Opare Addo has pledged to advance initiatives that empower Ghanaian youth.
He has also addressed concerns regarding the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, criticizing its current state and assuring that the NDC is committed to reforming and improving its implementation to better serve students.
Opare Addo has expressed his readiness to step down from his party position if President Mahama deems it necessary, demonstrating his dedication to the administration’s goals and the nation’s progress.
