In a tragic turn of events, the missing Ghana Immigration Service officer, Steffen King Amoah, has been found dead, with his burnt and mutilated body discovered near Abuom Junction, close to Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
Mr. Amoah, affectionately known as Nana Kofi, was reported missing by his family several days prior to the discovery.
According to police sources, the body bore multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck, suggesting a brutal murder.
Investigators believe the perpetrators attempted to destroy evidence by wrapping the body in a woollen carpet and setting it ablaze.
A 36-year-old male suspect, believed to be a friend of the deceased, was remanded into police custody on Monday, July 8, in connection with the crime.
The Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation and is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of all involved.
Steffen King Amoah enlisted in the Ghana Immigration Service in 2013 and was a well-known figure in the Sports Department at the Service’s national headquarters.
He is survived by his wife, a police officer, and their two young children.
