Adu-Boahene trial: deputy A-G dismisses claims of missing evidence

Deputy Attorney-General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai has dismissed reports that evidence in the ongoing Republic v. Adu-Boahene trial has gone missing, insisting that the prosecution’s case remains fully intact.

In a statement on social media, Dr. Srem-Sai described the claims as “unfounded,” stressing that all materials required for the trial were properly filed months ago and remain available to both the court and the accused persons.

“The Attorney-General’s office has not lost any evidence regarding the ongoing Republic v. Adu-Boahene criminal trial,” he said.

He stated that by June 18, the prosecution had already submitted all evidence it intends to rely on, including contracts of sale, bank transfer records, account statements, company registration and property documents, receipts, INTERPOL stolen vehicle records, investigative caution and charge statements, records of asset non-declaration, a money-flow chart tracing transactions across multiple bank accounts, and testimonies from three prosecution witnesses.

He stressed that certified copies of these documents were lodged with the court and duly served on all accused persons, making it “unrealistic” for the trial to be jeopardised by alleged missing files.

Updating the public on proceedings before the July legal vacation, Dr. Srem-Sai noted that the first prosecution witness had completed testimony and had been cross-examined by three of the four defence teams.

The high-profile trial, which has drawn significant public interest, is scheduled to resume in mid-October when courts reopen after the legal break.
