I didn’t perform poorly in Zongo communities – Bawumia

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rejected claims that he performed poorly in Islamic, also known as (Zongo) communities during the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at a party gathering in Adansi Asokwa, Ashanti Region, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia dismissed the allegations as “baseless propaganda,” insisting that narratives suggesting Muslims and Zongo voters abandoned him are not backed by facts.

“The propaganda out there is that Muslims and the Zongo people did not cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia. When I heard it, I asked, ‘Where is the data to support these claims?’ Because for me, if you tell me something, I need data to prove whether it’s true,” he said.

He also refuted recent claims by a presidential aspirant that he won only one polling station in all Zongo communities nationwide, stressing that such statements were false and misleading.
