Festac Africa festival 2025 officially launched in Accra

Festac Africa festival, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and Black Star Experience, has launched the Festac Africa Festival 2025, a major Pan-African cultural showcase designed to reconnect Africa with its diaspora through heritage, art, and identity.

The launch, held at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park on Thursday, September 11, announced a week-long festival scheduled to run from September 21 to 27, 2025.

Under the theme “Harnessing Health, Culture, Trade, Climate Change, Gender, and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth”, the festival promises a rich blend of performances, workshops, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges celebrating Pan-African unity.

Organisers say the festival will highlight Africa’s diverse traditions and contemporary creativity, creating a platform for Africans on the continent and in the diaspora to explore their shared heritage.

Beyond entertainment, Festac Africa will also feature dialogue sessions on culture, innovation, and development.

Speaking at the launch, event representatives emphasised that the initiative is not only about celebration but also about fostering collaboration among Africans worldwide.

“This is an opportunity for us to strengthen ties, project our identity, and inspire the next generation to be proud of their roots,” an organiser noted.

Planned activities include a cross-border float from Nigeria to Ghana, the official honouring of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in line with government plans, health screenings, nationwide tree-planting exercises, summits, peace and security advocacy campaigns, and a culinary Afro-fusion showcase, among others.

The countdown is on as Accra prepares to become the cultural heartbeat of the continent this September.
