President Mahama commissions 4 new ambassadors; urges them to further drive investment

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned four (4) new Ambassadors and charged them to protect Ghana’s freedom to make decisions, secure access to markets and technology, and build partnerships that strengthen the country’s capacity to produce and compete on the international stage.

According to President Mahama, it is incumbent on them to follow through on agreements and investment proposals, identify obstacles early, and work with their parent ministry and the relevant institutions.

“Your task is to attract the investments and expertise necessary to help turn these resources into productive industries and lasting employment. Judge the success of your economic diplomacy by the opportunities you are able to bring to Ghana” President Mahama said.

The newly commissioned ambassadors are Her Excellency Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, Ambassador to the Republic of Angola; His Excellency Louis Kwame Obeng, Ambassador to the State of Qatar; Her Excellency Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, Ambassador to the State of Israel and His Excellency Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, Permanent Representative-Designate to Switzerland.

Speaking at their commissioning on Frday, October 16, 2026, President Mahama said Ghana is open for business and as such they must work round the clock to turn the economic fortunes of the country around.

“Our missions play an important role in identifying investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development priorities, helping Ghanaian businesses enter new markets abroad, and building relationships with institutions that can support skills development, research, and technology transfer” he said.

President Mahama further said while they are determined to turn the investment fortunes of the country around, they must do so without neglecting the interest of Ghanaians in the diaspora.

“Ghanaians abroad must also receive the same attention. Our citizens should find in every mission an office that listens, responds, and treats them with respect.

“Consular services must be accessible and efficient, and assistance to citizens in distress must be treated as one of your priorities” he stressed.
