IGP cautions Ghanaians against attacks on police stations

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has cautioned Ghanaians to desist from attacking police stations and personnel in moments of anger.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on September 30, 2025, Mr. Yohonu explained that such incidents have contributed to the recent closure of some police stations across the country.

His remarks came in response to a question posed by Member of Parliament Abena Osei-Asare.

Meanwhile, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, added that in certain cases, situations escalated to the point where closing down some police stations became necessary to maintain calm.
