The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has described December in Ghana 2025 as the country’s ultimate season of culture, music, and celebration, reaffirming Ghana’s position as the heartbeat of African tourism and creativity.
Delivering her welcome address at the official launch of the December in Ghana 2025 Event Calendar, held at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House, Mrs. Houadjeto expressed excitement about this year’s celebrations, which promise an expanded lineup of cultural and entertainment activities across the country.
“Each year, December transforms Ghana into the heartbeat of the African diaspora,” she said.
“We don’t just create events, we create experiences that bring the world home to Ghana, where heritage meets creativity and celebrations drive opportunity. From electrifying concerts to fashion showcases, food festivals, arts and community gatherings, this is more than a calendar; it’s a movement.”
She extended an open invitation to Ghanaians, the diaspora, and visitors from around the world to come, celebrate, connect, and experience the unmatched spirit of Ghana.
Representing His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah reiterated the government’s commitment to making Ghana one of the safest and most eco-friendly destinations for global tourists.
He emphasised that President Mahama’s vision is rooted in the belief that Ghana possesses unique tourism assets which, when effectively developed and promoted, can claim their rightful place on the international tourism map.
“The President is committed to resetting and strengthening the country’s tourism sector to ensure it remains a powerful driver of economic growth, job creation, and national pride,” Mr. Debrah stated.
Adding his voice, Mr. Rex Owusu Marfo, Coordinator of the Black Star Experience, invited the world to experience the “magic of December in Ghana,” a season alive with rhythm, colour, and connection.
He highlighted the wide range of experiences awaiting visitors, from the pulse of traditional drumming and Afrobeats to vibrant tourist markets, explorations of Ghana’s 29 historic forts and castles, and relaxation at the country’s scenic eco-parks, reserves, and beaches.
“Every part of Ghana tells a story, one of pride, culture, and unity,” Mr. Marfo said, adding that this year’s edition promises to celebrate the true essence of Ghanaian identity.
The December in Ghana 2025 celebration, launched under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, is jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Black Star Experience.
It seeks to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, boost tourism, and strengthen the nation’s creative economy.
