The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has confirmed the arrest of Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals earlier declared wanted in connection with an ongoing criminal prosecution involving gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and transportation of gold without a licence, among other offences.
According to GoldBod, both suspects voluntarily turned themselves in and have since been arraigned before the High Court to face prosecution for their alleged roles in the gold smuggling syndicate.
The court has granted them bail, but the conditions are yet to be met. Consequently, the suspects remain in lawful custody pending the fulfillment of their bail terms and the continuation of court proceedings.
Meanwhile, two other wanted persons, Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli (also known as Salam), remain at large. The public is urged to provide any credible information on their whereabouts to the Ghana Police Service or GoldBod.
A bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) per person remains active for information leading to their arrest.
