Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in the United States to participate in the 2025 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, one of the world’s leading forums on food security and agricultural innovation.
Organised by the World Food Prize Foundation, the event is taking place in Des Moines, Iowa, and brings together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and development partners to address the growing challenges of food insecurity and climate change.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang will deliver a keynote address highlighting Ghana’s progress and priorities in ensuring food security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and increasing the participation of women and young people in agribusiness.
She is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with development partners and participate in a high-level roundtable on innovation and agricultural transformation.
According to the Office of the Vice President, Ghana’s participation reflects government’s commitment to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems that can support both national and global food security efforts.
The Norman E. Borlaug Dialogue is named after Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, renowned for his contributions to the Green Revolution.
This year’s edition focuses on advancing climate-smart agriculture, strengthening food systems, and fostering global partnerships to tackle food insecurity.
