President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Ghana Infrastructure Plan (GIP), describing it as the blueprint for a future-ready Ghana.
According to the President, the Plan marks a major strategic reset aimed at addressing long-standing developmental and geographical imbalances across the country.
Speaking at the launch event organized by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, President Mahama said the Ghana Infrastructure Plan aligns with government’s Big Push Agenda and other global development frameworks.
“This new approach aligns our infrastructure development with our government’s Big Push Agenda, the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he stated.
President Mahama explained that the GIP introduces a special planning model designed to promote balanced regional development and ensure equitable access to opportunities nationwide.
“The Ghana Infrastructure Plan stands as a bold, forward-looking national blueprint, one that lays the foundation for building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready Ghana,” he emphasized.
He underscored that the initiative requires broad national inclusivity and collaboration across all sectors.
“It requires all of us, across the political divide, public institutions, civil society organizations, and generations to dedicate ourselves to a shared vision of progress,” he said.
President Mahama urged Parliament to enact enabling legislation, enforce fiscal discipline, and provide effective oversight to safeguard the implementation of the Plan.
He also called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to align their sectoral plans with the GIP to ensure continuity in project delivery.
“To the private sector, I urge you to invest boldly and build partnerships in infrastructure, logistics, and digital transformation. To civil society, academia, and the media, I urge you to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation. And to our development partners, I encourage collaboration in blended finance, capacity building, and technology transfer,” the President added.
President Mahama further assured that government remains committed to transparency and accountability in executing the Plan.
“Finally, to the Ghanaian people, I urge you to hold us accountable, share ideas, and support this collective mission with patience and patriotism,” he said.
