Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has resumed water production at the Kpong Treatment Plant after the successful replacement of weak sections of the 21-inch and 42-inch Kpong-Tema transmission pipelines.
The maintenance exercise began on Thursday, August 6, 2026, as part of efforts to address weaknesses in the ageing transmission infrastructure serving parts of the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions.
GWL said water supply will, however, not return to normal immediately, as transmission lines and reservoirs need to be progressively refilled before operating pressures can be fully restored.
