Health ministry donates 11 anaesthetic machines to Korle-Bu and UGMC

The Ministry of Health has donated eleven (11) anaesthetic machines to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) to enhance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.

Out of the total, three machines were presented to UGMC, while eight were delivered to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

According to the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the donation forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda,” which aims to equip hospitals across the country with modern medical equipment to strengthen healthcare delivery.

Mr. Akandoh noted that the government’s ongoing efforts to boost the health sector also target the uneven distribution of medical personnel, particularly doctors who are heavily concentrated in major cities.

He explained that the heavy patient load at major referral facilities such as Korle-Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals is partly due to the shortage of medical doctors in district hospitals, a challenge the Ministry is determined to address through the retooling and redistribution initiative currently underway.
