Vice President Opoku-Agyemang holds constructive talks with EU Ambassador on partnership, peace, and trade

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has hosted H.E. Rune Skinnebach, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Ghana, for a productive meeting focused on deepening bilateral and regional cooperation.

During the engagement, the Vice President stressed the importance of cultivating genuine partnerships in an evolving geopolitical landscape.

She underscored the need to review existing agreements, address prevailing gaps, and promote cooperation grounded in equity, respect, and shared strategic interests.

“Peace is the cornerstone of progress. Adopting a preventative approach to security challenges is far more effective, sustainable, and cost-efficient than reacting after crises occur,” she noted, emphasizing that collective commitment, early action, and strong institutional collaboration remain essential to safeguarding stability.

The discussion also highlighted emerging opportunities across the continent, with particular focus on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Professor Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to leverage the AfCFTA to strengthen its role as a regional hub for trade and integration.

The Vice President expressed appreciation to the EU for its continued partnership and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at promoting stability, prosperity, and shared growth.
