The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Hon. Rev. Dr. Kweku Addo, has commenced the production of pavement blocks as part of his commitment to improving inner-community alleys across the constituency.
This initiative marks the first phase of a broader plan to pave selected strategic areas, complementing the major 10km road construction project under the President’s flagship road development programme.
According to the MP, producing pavement blocks is a proactive step to ensure that community roads, especially those that cannot immediately benefit from asphalt overlays, receive durable and sustainable paving solutions.
He noted that the approach will not only enhance mobility and improve the aesthetics of the constituency but also reduce dust, erosion, and the frequent deterioration of unpaved roads.
Hon. Rev. Dr. Addo emphasized that the paving initiative aligns with his earlier promise to address the persistent challenges of bumpy and uneven inner roads in communities such as Dansoman, Opetekwei, Glefe, and other adjoining areas.
By producing the blocks locally, the project is expected to reduce costs, create short-term employment opportunities, and ensure sufficient materials for continuous road improvement works.

The MP reaffirmed that while the central government’s 10km road construction project will provide major arterial upgrades, his initiative is designed to augment these efforts by targeting internal roads and access routes that directly affect residents’ daily movement.
He called on residents to support the rollout of the project, assuring them that once production reaches the required threshold, onsite paving in priority areas will begin immediately.
Community leaders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and a testament to the MP’s hands-on approach to resolving long-standing infrastructural concerns in Ablekuma West.
