The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has embarked on a thank-you tour across the constituency to engage residents and express her appreciation for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general elections.
As part of the tour, she hosted a social gathering on Sunday, 21 December, at Kwashieman, where she officially launched a sports development initiative dubbed the Ablekuma North Sports Union (ANSU).
The initiative is being implemented under her philanthropic organisation, the AWURA Foundation, which focuses on providing care and support for the poor, vulnerable, and widows within the constituency.
Addressing residents at the event, Mrs. Aubynn said the Ablekuma North Sports Union would serve as an umbrella body to identify, nurture, and develop young talents across various sporting disciplines in the constituency.
“The Ablekuma North Sports Union will help us identify, train, and properly develop the many talented young people we have in this constituency and expose them to opportunities both locally and internationally,” she stated.
She explained that the initiative is deliberately designed to be transparent and merit-based, with no room for political interference.
“This programme is not about politics or favouritism. It is about giving every talented child a fair chance to succeed and to become Ablekuma North’s own Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, or Azumah Nelson,” the MP emphasised.
Mrs. Aubynn described the project as a long-term investment in youth empowerment, discipline, and excellence.
“When we invest in sports, we are investing in discipline, national pride, and the future of our youth. This is a legacy project that will benefit Ablekuma North for generations to come,” she added.
