GSFP completes practical caterer training in Volta, Oti and Bono regions

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has successfully concluded a two-week practical training programme for newly recruited caterers in the Volta, Oti and Bono regions as part of efforts to strengthen programme implementation and enhance the quality of meals served to beneficiary schoolchildren.

The training focused on equipping caterers with hands-on skills in the effective use of locally produced foodstuffs, in line with the Programme’s objective of promoting local agriculture while ensuring the provision of nutritious and balanced meals.

Participants also received training in food hygiene and safety, nutrition, portion control, the use of handy measures in meal service, and proper kitchen maintenance.

The capacity-building initiative forms part of the GSFP’s broader strategy to improve service delivery standards, promote high levels of hygiene and nutrition, and support local economic development through the sourcing and use of locally produced food items.

The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, in a statement expressed appreciation to key stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful implementation of the training.

These include Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD), the Ghana Education Service (GES), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), training facilitators, and other partner institutions.

The GSFP also extended its best wishes to all stakeholders and Ghanaians at large for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The Programme remains committed to continuous capacity building and sustained stakeholder engagement to ensure the consistent provision of safe, nutritious, and adequate meals for all beneficiary pupils nationwide.
