Government pays first term school feeding grant, urges caterers to report payment challenges

The government, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has released the first-term feeding grant for the 2025/2026 academic year to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) across all 16 regions of the country.

The payment covers 74 cooking days for the first term, which commenced on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at a feeding cost of GH¢2 per child per school day.

According to a press release signed by the Director of Public Relations for the GSFP, Mr. Siiba Alfa, the disbursement was based on the actual number of days caterers successfully provided meals to beneficiary pupils during the term.

Caterers who encounter challenges or discrepancies with the payment are advised to promptly report to their respective Regional Coordinators for immediate resolution.

The Programme also commended the government for the timely release of funds and acknowledged the patience, commitment, and dedication of caterers in ensuring the delivery of nutritious meals to beneficiary pupils nationwide.
