Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has arrived in ther United State of America (USA) to participate in the Sister Cities International 70th Anniversary Homecoming Conference, scheduled for Thursday 23rd July 2026 in Washington, D.C.
The Vice President, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will serve as the Special Guest of Honour and deliver the Opening Plenary Keynote Address on the theme: “Forging Stronger Partnerships in Africa for Sustainable Economic Development through the Sister Cities Global Partnerships Agenda’’ according to a statement from her office.
Ghana’s vice president participation will mark the first time a leader from outside the United States has delivered the opening keynote address at a Sister Cities International global conference.
The conference, which commemorates the 70th anniversary of Sister Cities International, will bring together government officials, mayors, diplomats, business executives, development partners and representatives of civil society organizations from around the world to promote international cooperation, citizen diplomacy and sustainable development.
The event will feature high-level plenary sessions, policy dialogues, investment forums, networking engagements, embassy receptions and a dedicated Africa Forum aimed at strengthening partnerships between African communities and their international counterparts.
Also joining the vice president to the event are chief of staff at her office Mr. Alex Segbefia, Senior political adviser Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, deputy minister for foreign affairs James Gyakye Quayeson and Ghana’s ambassador to Washington D.C Emmanuel Victor Smith amongst others.
