13 dead in Sege-Ada highway crash

Thirteen people have been reported dead and five others sustained critical injuries in a road crash involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace on the Sege-Ada highway in the Greater Accra Region.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, when the two vehicles were travelling from Sege towards Ada.

A total of 18 people were involved in the crash, with 13 losing their lives, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The accident was reported on the Sege-Tema highway, with officers from the Sege Fire Station responding to the incident. The firefighters responded to the scene and assisted in rescuing the victims and managing the casualties.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, including what caused the two vehicles to collide, have not yet been disclosed.

The incident adds to concerns over road safety and the need for motorists to exercise greater caution on Ghana’s highways.
