President John Dramani Mahama has assured investors in the automobile industry of an enabling environment to operate.
He says the government has laid the foundation and will continue to build on existing structures to improve the ease of doing business.
According to President Mahama, “the automotive industry remains one of the world’s most important manufacturing sectors, valued at approximately US$2.6 trillion.”
In 2025 alone, global vehicle production reached about 96.4 million units, while worldwide vehicle sales approached 100 million.
At the commissioning of Phase III of the Zonda Tec Ghana Limited Assembly Plant on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, President Mahama said these achievements put the government in a position to support the industry.
“This achievement demonstrates what is possible when private enterprise aligns with national vision and government provides an enabling environment for investment,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, President Mahama said that as the appetite for electric vehicles increases, the government will work around the clock to regulate charging stations to maintain power balance while encouraging solar charging.
“The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition is coming out with an EV policy. This relates mainly to charging stations, and we want to establish clear regulations so that the development of charging infrastructure does not create imbalances in our electricity system,” President Mahama hinted.
