President John Dramani Mahama has announced that government is ready to collaborate with key stakeholders to allow workers acquire vehicles on high purchase basis.
President Mahama said the objective of the government is to help create jobs while maintaining a stable economy by reducing imports on vehicles.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Phase III of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited’s Assembly in Tema on Tuesday, September 15,2026, President Mahama said the overarching goal is to reduce the financial burden of the Ghanaian worker.
“Government is ready to collaborate with manufacturers, banks and the private sector to develop long-term financing that allows workers, doctors, teachers, nurses and other employees to purchase vehicles and pay over time through their salaries”. President Mahama said.
President Mahama said government aims to craft jobs and improve conservation of foreign exchange and build competitive export industry.
“This government’s objectives for the automotive industry are straightforward. We seek to create quality jobs, reduce dependence on imported vehicles, conserve valuable foreign exchange and build competitive export industries that can serve the ECOWAS and wider African markets” he said.
He said there is the need for a stronger collaboration between automobile companies in a bid to achieve stronger dividends.
“The collaboration among Zonda Tech, Great Wall Motors, Forland, Chery and Sinotruck demonstrates what mutually beneficial partnerships can achieve when investment, technology and local enterprise come together” he said.
