The Overall National Best Farmer 2026 will be rewarded with a seven-day, all-expenses-paid international agricultural study and leisure trip to Italy, alongside a comprehensive package of prizes, including GH¢1.2 million, a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup, a brand-new tractor and accessories, and several other agricultural inputs.
The international trip, sponsored by Mehak Company Limited, will also include the winner’s spouse or partner and forms part of efforts to recognise and reward excellence, innovation and resilience in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms ahead of the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration in 2026.
The sponsorship packages are designed to provide Ghana’s outstanding farmers with international exposure to modern agricultural technologies, sustainable production systems, value-chain development and food-processing innovations.
Under the arrangement, Mehak Company Limited will sponsor the Overall National Best Farmer and his or her spouse or partner on the exclusive seven-day trip to Italy. The visit will combine agricultural study and leisure, with a focus on modern European agritech, sustainable value chains and innovative processing systems.
The Overall National Best Farmer will also receive a GH¢1.2 million cash prize, a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup, a brand-new tractor and accessories, as well as several other agricultural inputs and prizes.
The comprehensive reward package is expected to recognise the winner’s contribution to agricultural development while providing resources to enhance farming operations and productivity.
Similarly, Covenant Farms will sponsor the National Best Poultry Farmer 2026 on a seven-day, all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking trip to Italy.
The poultry-focused visit will expose the award winner to modern poultry production systems, innovative technologies, sustainable practices and value-chain development, with the aim of promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening Ghana’s poultry industry.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the international exposure packages would complement government’s efforts to modernise agriculture and equip farmers with practical knowledge of advanced farming, processing and production systems.
As part of preparations for the international trips, the Ministry said it had completed negotiations with the Embassy of Italy to facilitate the travel arrangements for the eventual winners of the two categories.
The Ministry expressed its profound appreciation to the managements of Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for their commitment to supporting Ghanaian agriculture and contributing to the success of the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration.
It further noted that the partnership demonstrates the important role of the private sector in recognising the invaluable contribution of farmers to national development, food security and economic growth.
The Ministry encouraged farmers across the country to continue striving for excellence, innovation and productivity as Ghana celebrates their dedication and contribution to the nation.
