Roads Ministry pledges GH¢100,000 support for Ga Mantse Foundation

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has pledged financial and institutional support for the Ga Mantse Foundation as part of efforts to deepen collaboration with the Ga Traditional Council.

The commitment was made when the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra.

The Ga Mantse used the occasion to appeal to the Ministry to support the Foundation’s programmes, which focus on education, skills development, girls’ empowerment and social welfare.

He highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Foundation, including support for school infrastructure, scholarships, school-startup assistance for children and programmes aimed at improving girls’ enrolment, retention and completion in school.

The Foundation also supports young mothers to return to school after childbirth and promotes vocational and entrepreneurial skills training for girls.

Responding to the appeal, the Chief Director of the Ministry announced financial support of GH¢100,000 for the Foundation.

The Ministry also indicated that, in consultation with the Minister, it would facilitate voluntary contributions from the Ministry and its agencies on an annual basis to support the Foundation.

The initiative is expected to provide a structured avenue for the Ministry and its agencies to contribute to programmes being implemented by the Ga Mantse Foundation.

Mr. Agbodza said the Ministry would also work with the Chief Director to respond to the Ga Mantse’s request for support to the Foundation.

The Minister commended Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II for his commitment to supporting education, particularly initiatives aimed at improving opportunities for girls.

He said investment in girls’ education was critical to the future of society, noting the important role women play in raising and shaping future generations.

The Ga Mantse expressed appreciation to the Minister and his delegation and called for stronger collaboration between the Ga Traditional Council and the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
