National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairmanship aspirant, Dr. Akwesi Opong-Fosu, has pledged to prioritise the welfare of party executives and strengthen grassroots mobilisation as part of efforts to position the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.
The pledge was made during a two-day campaign tour of the Oti Region, where he engaged constituency executives in Krachi West, Nchumuru and Dambai.
Dr. Opong-Fosu said his ambition was to revitalise the party, strengthen its organisational structures and build on the achievements of the current leadership to ensure a smooth transition and sustained electoral success.
He maintained that a strong and well-resourced grassroots base would be critical to the NDC’s ability to retain political momentum and secure victory in 2028.
A key component of his campaign message was a commitment to providing regular logistical support and improving the welfare of party executives at all levels, including the branch, constituency, regional and national structures.
He argued that equipping party officials with the necessary resources would enhance their effectiveness, strengthen internal cohesion and make the party more attractive to its members and supporters.
Supporting his candidature, Lawyer Inusah Fuseini underscored the need for leadership that prioritises the welfare and operational needs of grassroots executives.
He assured party members that Dr. Opong-Fosu’s promises on logistics, resource allocation and organisational support would be implemented with accountability if he is elected National Chairman.
Lawyer Fuseini subsequently appealed to constituency executives to support Dr. Opong-Fosu’s bid, describing him as a candidate capable of promoting unity, strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and improving its chances of winning future national elections.
