Samuel Owusu Asare, the Ghanaian film director, entertainment commentator and media personality better known as Sammy Rasta , is now the host of Power Entertainment, the flagship showbiz programme on Power FM / Radio XYZ and TV XYZ.
His appointment comes after the exit of Agyemang Prempeh, the show’s longtime host and Radio XYZ manager.
Sammy Rasta is no newcomer to the studio. For several years he has been a regular panelist and analyst on the show, and he has steadily taken on more of the hosting responsibility. Recent episodes have been billed as “Power Entertainment with Sammy Rasta,” signalling his growing role. With strong roots in the Kumawood film industry and a name for speaking candidly about Ghana’s entertainment scene, he combines industry knowledge with solid broadcast experience.
He has never shied away from strong opinions. On the show, he has pushed for more national media coverage of musicians from northern Ghana, challenged the habit of mixing up Kumawood films with stage plays, and championed Ghanaian music on the world stage. Many industry watchers see his step into the host’s seat as a natural next move.
Power Entertainment airs every Saturday, with simulcasts on TV XYZ and across digital platforms, and remains a go-to source for entertainment news, lively debates and interviews. Under Sammy Rasta, viewers can expect the same blend of analysis, music segments and industry conversation, now with his own distinct flavour.
Fans and colleagues have received the news warmly, pointing to his long history with the programme and his established presence in Ghanaian media.
