Parliament’s Appointments Committee will on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 begin the vetting of the newly nominated Ministers and deputies.
According to the schedule sighted by myxyzonline.com, former deputy Minister for Energy, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, who has been elevated to head the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is designated to appear first at 9 a.m.
Others lined up for grilling are Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan (MP), Minister-designate for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah (MP), who now takes full responsibility for the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development if approved.
On the list, Madam Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation is expected to take her turn at 12 Midday.
Madam Darkoa Newman, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection will be the last to face the the Appointments Committee on Tuesday.
On Thursday, March 7, 2024, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, begins the day. He will be followed by a former MP for Tema West now Minister-designate for the Greater Accra Region, Mr Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover.
At 11 a.m., Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Information, takes her turn with the Minister-designate for the Oti Region, Mr. Daniel Machator, ending the process for Thursday.
On Friday, March 9, 2024, The Appointments Committee will begin the vetting of deputy Ministers designate.
First on the list if Dr Benjamin Sekyere Yeboah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, followed by Mr Sylvester Tetteh, MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro as Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Information.
Day one of vetting of deputy Ministerial nominees to wrap up with Mr Charles Acheampong, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation and Deputy Ministers-designate for the Health Ministry, Madam Adelaide Ntim and Alexander Akwasi Acquah.
Vetting of the remaining deputy Ministerial nominees is billed to continue on Monday, March 11, 2024.
They are Mr Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Deputy Minister-designate for the Energy Ministry, John Kobina Sanie, Mr Collins Adomako Mensah, Deputy Minister-designate at the Energy Ministry, then Dr Prince Hamidu Armah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Works and Housing Ministry; Kingsley Nyarko, Deputy Minister-designate for the Education Ministry; Festus Awuah Kwofie, Deputy Minister-designate for the Employment and Labour Ministry; Akwasi Konadu, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Development.
The process is expected to end on March 12, 2024.
