EOCO arrests LPG leader Kofi Akpaloo in Kumasi

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, in a dawn operation at his residence in Kumasi.

Security sources say the operation was carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) from its Accra headquarters, working alongside the Ashanti Regional Office.

The arrest was executed without incident.

Mr. Akpaloo is reportedly being transported to Accra to assist investigators with ongoing inquiries.

While the specific reasons for his arrest remain unclear, insiders suggest it may be linked to broader investigations currently being pursued by EOCO.

As of press time, the agency has not issued an official statement.

The development has triggered widespread speculation within political circles, with observers awaiting further clarification.
