The Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will hold a Joint Experts’ Meeting (JEM) in Accra from November 4 to 6, 2025, with support from the Government of Ghana.
The annual JEM is a key global platform for operational engagement that brings together experts from across the FATF Global Network to share strategies and best practices in combating money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, and other financial crimes.
According to GIABA, the meeting aims to enhance understanding of emerging financial crime typologies, strengthen cooperation among regional and global stakeholders, and provide practical inputs to guide the FATF and GIABA’s work programmes.
The 2025 JEM will also promote structured engagement between the private sector and the FATF Global Network, focusing on region-specific risks and identifying opportunities for technical assistance and capacity building.
About 250 delegates are expected to attend, including experts from FATF member countries, FATF-Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs), international organizations, and selected private sector representatives.
At the end of the three-day meeting, participants are expected to outline operational insights and recommendations to strengthen global and regional anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) systems.
The outcomes will help improve understanding of new threats, enhance cooperation, and reinforce the shared priorities of GIABA and FATF in safeguarding the integrity of financial systems worldwide.
