Ghana gas supports four breast cancer patients with GH¢20,000 at Korle-Bu

The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has once again demonstrated its commitment to healthcare by donating GH¢20,000 to support four breast cancer patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The gesture forms part of Ghana Gas’s ongoing initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting patients, and emphasising the importance of early detection.

Earlier this week, the company extended similar support to the Ridge Hospital and selected community hospitals in the Western Region as part of its broader health outreach programme.

Speaking during the presentation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, the General Manager (Legal), Madam Sylvia Archer, praised the doctors and nurses of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for their unwavering dedication to patient care.

“At Ghana Gas, we believe that good health is the foundation of a strong and thriving society. This donation is our way of showing solidarity with women fighting breast cancer, to remind them that they are not alone,” she said.

She noted that the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s “Mahama Cares” vision, which underscores compassion, care for the vulnerable, and support for the needy.

Madam Archer added that the company remains deeply committed to promoting the message that early detection saves lives.

She explained that comprehensive medical care, emotional support, and financial assistance are all essential to ensuring that every patient’s journey is valued and supported.

The GH¢20,000 donation will go toward covering the cost of surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy for the four patients, as well as strengthening collaboration between Ghana Gas and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in supporting healthcare delivery.

She further encouraged Ghanaians, particularly women, to prioritise their health through regular medical check-ups and to support those battling cancer.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Breast Surgery Unit of Korle Bu, Dr. Josephine Nsaful expressed deep appreciation to Ghana Gas for its generosity.

“Every woman deserves a fighting chance, no matter the stage she presents with. Early detection can save lives, and finances should never be a barrier to treatment,” she said.

Dr. Nsaful also appealed for continuous support from corporate institutions to enable more patients to access timely and life-saving care.
