The Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, Haruna Mohammed BA, has called on Ghanaians to remain patient and avoid rushing to conclusions regarding the recent alleged attack by the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Office (NAIMOS) at Hwidiem Bronikrom.
Speaking in an interview with Piesie Okrah on Dwaboase on Power FM and TV XYZ on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Asunafo North legislator emphasized the need for fairness and balance in public discourse on the issue.
“There are two sides to every story. Ghanaians have already heard Erastus Asare Donkor’s account, and we must also listen to Hon. Ebenezer Addo’s side. Let’s not be prejudgmental,” he said.
The MP expressed disbelief that Ebenezer Kwaku Addo could have led or taken part in any attack, describing the incident as unfortunate.
“The Ebenezer Addo I know would not engage in such an act. Personally, I don’t believe he would lead an attack on NAIMOS,” he added.
Touching on the broader fight against illegal mining, Haruna Mohammed BA stressed that any government determined to leave a meaningful legacy must make the fight against galamsey a top priority.
He commended President John Mahama for demonstrating leadership in that regard.
“Any government that seeks to leave a lasting legacy must prioritize the fight against galamsey, and that’s exactly what President Mahama is doing. I entreat every government official to be cautious and fully committed to this cause,” he noted.
The Asunafo North MP concluded by urging the public to remain calm as they await his colleague’s official explanation.
“Ghanaians should exercise patience as we await Hon. Ebenezer Addo’s side of the case before passing judgment. Hopefully, by the close of the day, he will come out to explain his version of the story,” he said.
