Mahama cautions Tema MCE, NPP against provocative acts including illegal removal, defacing of bill boards

In another development, the John Mahama Campaign team has issued a strong caution to the NPP against provocative acts.

The statement follows deliberate attempts to deface or block the NDC 2024 Presidential candidate’s campaign bill board in the Tema central constituency.

The statement signed by Joyce Bawa Mogtari is in reaction to the Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA)’s directive for the pulling down of a billboard of HE John Dramani Mahama, mounted by Alliance Media in Tema.
It described the act as ‘unacceptable and constitutes a needless provocative attempt to raise the political temperature in the country.

The statement further noted that Alliance Media, a legally registered Ghanaian advertising business, has the rightful permission to mount Out-of-Home (OOH) and Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) sites nationwide.

The NDC statement said while it expects Alliance Media to take legal action against the TMA for this act, the John Mahama campaign team is warning the TMA Chief Executive and the NPP that such needless acts, which can lead to deliberate political clashes and violence, are detrimental to the growth of our democracy.

It called on the National Peace Council and religious and civil society organisations to take action before things get our of control.

“The Mahama Campaign wishes to caution that such acts will no longer be tolerated. If they persist, we will be compelled to instruct our members to take necessary measures to prevent such acts across the country. We urge the NPP to campaign peacefully and respect the rights of others to advertise their political candidates and messages. Violence and destruction of property have no place in our political discourse.” ..It concluded
