Mahama supports sick former Black Stars player

The former President and Flag bearer of the NDC, H.E John Dramani Mahama has generously reached out to support Ibrahim Meriga, a former Black Stars player whose fate lies in the balance due to a protracted illness.

The attention of the former president was drawn to the predicament of this former player through a social media handle belonging to one senior Sports Presenter, Dan kwaku Yeboah. The former President hence decided to intervene to help the ace footballer.

Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar (formerly of MASLOC) who visited the football player at his residence in Agona Swedru, presented some cash on behalf of H.E. John Mahama to enable the former star player start treatment.

The delegation included Alhaji Faud Hussein and the Central Regional Zongo Caucus coordinator Eng. Abdulai Amo.

Ibrahim Meriga, before his call to the Black Stars team was a lead player for Accra Hearts of Oak and Okwahu United, but has recently been ill leading to a mild stroke. He played alongside the likes of Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah.

The former president has pledged to support Meriga from time to time till he is back on his feet.

The family of Ibrahim Meriga expressed their appreciation to former President Mahama for this gesture and asked Allah to grant Meriga a speedy recovery.
