Minority leader visits former BoG governor after raid on his residence

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has paid a visit to Dr. Ernest Addison, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), following a raid on his residence at Roman Ridge, Accra, allegedly carried out by operatives of the National Security.

The Effutu MP reportedly expressed outrage over the incident and consoled Dr. Addison and his family. He assured them that he would demand answers from the government regarding the circumstances surrounding the raid.

The operation, which took place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, was conducted by armed men, some of whom were wearing balaclavas and wielding guns.

This marks the second such alleged National Security operation targeting former high-ranking officials of the Akufo-Addo administration since President John Mahama took office on January 7, 2025.

The first occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025, when armed men raided the residence of Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s longest-serving Finance Minister, in Labone, Accra. That operation was captured on CCTV cameras, with footage later leaked to the public.
