MP rewards 22 top BECE performers in Krachi East with sponsorship packages

In a bid to raise educational standards and motivate young learners, the Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Hon. Nelson Kofi Djabab, has fulfilled his pledge to reward academic excellence among Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The initiative targets students who scored outstanding aggregates of between 6 and 9. Each beneficiary receives a comprehensive package comprising a mattress, a chop box, notebooks, a mathematical set and a cash grant of GH¢2,000.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with XYZ News, Hon. Djabab explained the need for the intervention. He recalled that performance in the previous year’s BECE was critically low, with only two students from the constituency qualifying for scholarships from his office. This year, he said, the sponsorship programme had helped increase the number of high-achieving students from two to 22.

Demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity, the MP announced that the support also covers all persons with disabilities (PWDs) who sat the BECE. Under this provision, any student with a disability automatically qualifies for the package, regardless of their aggregate score.

Krachi East Education Director Mr Philip Solo Atichogbe welcomed the improvement in academic standards. He described the rise to 22 students achieving single-digit aggregates as a remarkable milestone for the municipality and credited the MP’s initiative with motivating students. Mr Atichogbe pledged that the education directorate would continue refining teaching and learning methods to help even more candidates reach similar heights.

The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the support. Many said the essential items and financial assistance had given them renewed hope and a clearer path towards their academic goals. They vowed to uphold high standards and work hard to make Krachi East a beacon of educational success.
