The burial of the late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science & Technology, is scheduled for today, Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:00 am in Tamale, according to multiple official reports.
Dr. Murtala Mohammed’s funeral will begin with Janaza prayers at the Anbariya Islamic Institute in Nyanshegu at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the Zujung Cemetery in line with Islamic customs.
His remains will be airlifted to Tamale on the morning of August 7, as confirmed by the Northern Regional Minister, to ensure a dignified ceremony.
In tribute to the late minister and all victims of the helicopter crash, the government has ordered that national flags be flown at half-mast.
The tragic helicopter crash occurred on August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
Dr. Murtala and seven others were aboard a Ghana Armed Forces Z‑9 helicopter en route to an event in Obuasi when the aircraft crashed, claiming all lives aboard.
This solemn ceremony marks the final farewell for a respected public servant and community leader.
