Ghana’s Paralympic team has reportedly fled to other Schengen countries after arriving in Norway for preparations ahead of the Fjordkraft in Bergen city marathon games in Oslo.
The 11 Member squad failed to attend a scheduled competition in April 27th, 2024, which led to significant concerns about their locations.
The team supposed to have arrived in Norway on April 25th, 2024, but failed to register their names for the competition and thus were not in attendance for the event for two days after their arrival.
Nana Antwi, one of the team members, was detained by Norwegian authorities at the end of April after attempting to travel to Sweden from Norway.
The situation took a tragic turn when the team’s coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, collapsed and was hospitalised at Oslo University Hospital on 28th April 2024. Sadly, he kicked the backet on 17 May 2024 and the cause of his death is not reveal yet .
Following these events, the Norwegian embassy in Accra has issued warning to other Schengen nations and diplomatic missions in Accra, urging them to assist in locating and apprehending the team members, reports revealed .
Meanwhile the Paralympic President of Ghana Mr Sampson Deen has denied the allegation and discloses that the supposed para team arrived in Oslo after his signature was forged for visas to Norway and absconded afterward.
‘He said that, the Ghana Olympic team have not sent anybody, have not sent anyone, or have not sent any athlete, have not written any letter, and we have never applied for a visa at the Norwegian Embassy.
The Ghana Paralympic committee have never sent any human, any official, been a Ghanaian to the Norwaygian Embassy for even to get the visa and travel to Norway.
We have no intention trying to attempt or participate in an event which is an olympic or Paralympic qualifier in Norway or Oslo.
Let me say that upon our checks, upon receiving this document from the ministry of youth and sports, we engaged and our investigation finds that the letter was written and Forged my signature with my letter head to secure the visa .
All the three (3 ) people who involved in this fraudulent scandal namely, Mr Theodore Mawuli Viwotor, Mr yaw Ernest Ayisi, and Ernestay Foundation, are suspended indefinitely from the Ghana Olympic committee and handed the case to the Ghana police service for further actions to be taken.’

XYZ sports desk checks shows that there’s a division among the Paralympic committee leadership and Para sports team
The team in Norway is a FAKE Ghana Para team. The names being mentioned as leaders are past executives of the committee.
There are about five different teams calling themselves Ghana Para Team despite not recognized by authorities .
When the original Ghana Amputee Team Football was preparing for the just ended Amputee AFCON in Egypt, there was also another team training for that same tournament.
It had to take a court order to stop the fake team from enplaning to Egypt ahead of the official team.
This is clear example to show that Ghana disable sports lack attention and direction.
