Nag Fairmount Construction Limited, the company handling the Kasoa–Winneba Road Project, has assured that a section of the road will be opened to traffic before Christmas to ease movement along the busy corridor.
The Foreman in charge of the Kasoa–Fetteh Kakraba stretch, Jonathan Arko, said the decision is aimed at improving mobility during the festive season.
Speaking to TV XYZ News during a site tour by the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, Mr. Arko noted that asphalting on the section is nearing completion and that the first layer is expected to be finished ahead of schedule.
Meanwhile, the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has commended the John Mahama-led government for continuing key legacy projects inherited from the previous administration, while also initiating new ones such as the Winneba–Mankessim and Cape Coast–Takoradi road expansion works.
However, the Association appealed to the contractor to expedite work on the Kasoa–Winneba project to alleviate the hardships faced by commuters and transport operators.
Transportation along the corridor, one of the busiest in the country, has been severely affected since expansion works began in late 2023.
Frequent truck overturns, congestion, and poor road conditions have forced several commercial drivers to withdraw their services, while others have increased fares, citing high vehicle maintenance costs caused by the bumpy and dusty terrain.
