Police seize 519 parcels of suspected indian hemp in central region

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men in Gomoa Nyanyano for allegedly possessing a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp.

The suspects, 30-year-old Eric Nkyeke and 28-year-old Francis Klu, were apprehended around 7:40 a.m. on August 11, 2025, while offloading 519 compressed parcels of the substance from a Toyota Hilux pick-up, registration number GS-6849-21.

The vehicle has since been impounded.

Police say the arrest was made by a Nyanyano District patrol team. Both suspects are in custody and assisting with investigations.

In a statement, the Regional Police Command praised the arresting officers and reiterated its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes.

The Command also warned those involved in such activities to desist or risk prosecution, while urging the public to report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
